One hundred days, or roughly fourteen weeks, until the EB-5 Visa minimum investment amount increases from $500,000 to $900,000. The change comes as part of the new EB-5 regulation set to go into effect on November 21, 2019.
For some investors this is still enough time to file their EB-5 Form I-526, Immigrant Petition by Alien Entrepreneur. Filing their petition before the deadline will allow applicants to lock in their $500k investment amount and allow them to be grandfathered into the program under current rules.
Benefits of applying now include:
– Saving $400,000
– Avoiding problems that will inevitably arise due to rule changes that industry professionals must adjust to
– Being able to invest in projects located in less risky targeted employment areas
– Locking in a earlier visa priority date
– Avoid the issues of trying to transfer $900k of funds to the U.S. from an investor’s home country
– Avoid additional source of funds evidence that may be required to show the additional funds required
As you can see, there may be many unforeseen complications that come up when the new regulation goes into effect. Take advantage of the time left, save funds, and lock in an earlier priority date by applying now.
