EB-5 Visa Canada: There are many reasons why a Canadian national may find the EB-5 visa to be the right fit for them.

New Business Opportunities

An EB-5 visa could open up new business opportunities or expand already established manufacturing facilities for Canadian entrepreneurs. After 5 years of conditional permanent residency, EB-5 investors and their family members may further benefit by becoming eligible for U.S. citizenship.

Elite Educational Institutions

The U.S. has 8 of the top universities in the world. An EB-5 visa would give a Canadian student the ability to live, study and work in the U.S. Investors in the Regional Center Program do not need to live near their investments and can therefore benefit from being able to focus on studying while still fulfilling program requirements. Additionally, since the funds for EB-5 can come from a variety of sources, parents can gift their children the required EB-5 minimum investment amount for them to be able to come to the U.S. to study.

Snowbirds and Retirees

Canadian nationals who wish to travel to or retire to warmer climates may find the southern U.S. very appealing. Numerous locations in the U.S. have desirable climates, low cost of living, diverse housing options, lively shopping and entertainment areas, and easy access to airports.

U.S. Permanent Residence

Other reasons a Canadian national may want to live in the U.S. include being closer to family, accessing wider career opportunities, or having more lifestyle and entertainment options.

Whatever the reason for wanting to immigrate to the U.S., the EB-5 visa may be the right choice. Canadian nationals who invest $1.8 million in a new commercial enterprise that creates 10 full-time permanent jobs for U.S. workers may qualify for lawful permanent residency for themselves, their spouses and their unmarried children under the age of 21 years. The minimum investment amount is reduced by half to $900,000 if the EB-5 applicant invests in a commercial enterprise located in a targeted employment area (TEA). TEA are rural or high unemployment areas as designated by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
