I-526 and I-829 Petition Statistics Report for 1st Quarter Fiscal Year 2020

Here is the latest data from USCIS on the I-526 and I-829 petitions for the 1st quarter fiscal year 2020.

The following chart shows the number of I-526 petitions received, approved, denied and pending for fiscal years 2008 – 2019 as well as the first quarter of fiscal year 2020.

The number of petitions filed during October – December FY 2020 increased and was likely due to the EB-5 Modernization Regulation passage on November 21, 2019. As expected, prospective investors locked in the lower EB-5 minimum investment amount by applying before the rule deadline during this period.

The following chart shows the I-526 approve EB-5 petitions awaiting visa final priority dates as of November 12, 2019 for China, India and Vietnam.

So far 26,931 investors from Mainland China, 189 investors from India, and 491 investors from Vietnam have I-526 petition approval and are awaiting visa final priority dates. The rest of the world is current.

The last chart shows the number of I-829 petitions received, approved, denied and pending for fiscal years 2008 – 2019 as well as the first quarter of fiscal year 2020.

I-829 petition processing appears to be at similar levels as the previous year. The Chief of the Immigrant Investor Program Office indicated in March, 2020, that EB-5 case completion rates may soon increase. We will see as data is released in the next few months if this is the case.

Is immigrating to the U.S. still a good idea after Coronavirus?
