USCIS “Idea Community” Crowdsources Feedback On EB-5 Program

USCIS has created a platform called Idea Community, a crowdsourcing tool, and they have asked stakeholders to provide feedback on four different areas of the EB-5 Program.

USCIS is looking for feedback in order to improve the current EB-5 Program process and potentially make regulatory and policy changes.

According to USCIS’s message their goal is to use the Idea Community to obtain feedback on these four areas of the EB-5 Program:

  • “Minimum investment amounts;
  • TEA designation process;
  • Regional center designation process including, but not limited to:
    • Exemplar process
    • Designation of the geographic scope;
  • and, Indirect job creation methodologies.”

Stakeholders have until May 11, 2016 to submit feedback on any of these topics. All they need to do is click here to visit the Idea Community website, submit an email address, create a profile, and comment on the topics.

What impact could this have?

Your feedback could have a big impact on these four areas of the EB-5 Program.

USCIS is looking at whether they should raise the minimum investment amount and if so, how they should go about increasing it.

USCIS is looking at the TEA process and the regional center process, and your feedback could help fix problems and make improvements.

And finally, USCIS is looking at the methodologies involved in indirect job creation. Currently, indirect job creation is a vague and sometimes challenging area of the EB-5 Program. Your feedback on this area could potentially lead to improvements.
