Additionally, according to the same report and based on the Asia-Pacific Wealth Report 2018 by Capgemini, the number of high net worth individuals in India grew by 20% to almost 263,000 in 2017. This was reported as being the highest growth among all the Asia-Pacific countries. Although relatively small compared to India’s total population, the increase may be a contributing factor to why EB-5 is growing in popularity among Indian nationals.
The increase in demand for EB-5 may have to do with the number of high net worth individuals in India coupled with the appeal of the American Dream. The U.S. appeals to many Indians looking for world-class education, a better quality of life, more work and business opportunities and a strong and stable economy.
The report also indicates the potential of the United Arab Emirates as a growing EB-5 market. The U.A.E.’s international migrant population along with its high number of high net worth individuals help explain the quick rise in EB-5 popularity there.
